COLUMBIA, Md. -- MICROS Systems, Inc. MCRS, a leading provider of information technology solutions for the hospitality industry, recently upgraded Showboat Atlantic City from MICROS's Unix-based 8700 Hospitality Management System to its new Windows NT-based 9700 Large Enterprise Solution (LES). With this upgrade, all of Showboat's 32 revenue centers and 60 point-of-sale terminals run to a single NT system, streamlining support and management, as well as facilitating future infrastructure upgrades.

The MICROS 9700 LES is a cost-effective, highly usable, point-of-sale system with open systems architecture. It is specifically designed to handle a high usage, multiple revenue center environment. The system also offers great flexibility in the development of custom POS applications. For Harrah's Entertainment, MICROS has already developed a Custom Cage application, Parking Garage application, and a Comp System interface to allow Harrah's TOTAL GOLD patrons to redeem comps at any POS in any of Harrah's 21 properties.

"We are thrilled to be able to work jointly with MICROS on this initiative for the 9700 system," stated Carmen Hirst, Director of Information Technology for Showboat Atlantic City. "Working with this new product has given us the opportunity to offer insightful feedback about functionality from a customer's perspective. The installation went very smoothly and we are now looking forward to the Windows-based Configurator for the same ease-of-use system navigation."

"MICROS has been the preferred Harrah's POS vendor since 1996 and our products are installed at 20 Harrah's Entertainment sites," explained Jenny Kurdle, VP of Business Development, Leisure & Entertainment Business Group of MICROS. "Because of our strong business relationship, we understand their long-term needs and are helping Harrah's create a robust POS infrastructure that offers the most flexibility and capabilities for Harrah's property network today, tomorrow, and into the future."
