John Q. Hammons Inks Deal With VIP International Corporation
CALGARY, CANADA—March 26, 2001—VIP International, wholly owned subsidiary of HARS Systems, Inc.
John Q. Hammons chose VIP International in order to provide its independents with the same reservation management system and channel marketing capabilities its major franchise hotels enjoy. VIP is now the central point of distribution for four John Q. Hammons' independent hotels, providing them with exposure across all available marketing channels, including 600,000 travel agents and millions of Internet travel consumers worldwide.
"In short, we chose VIP because they have the reservation revenue building tools we were looking for for our independent hotels," said Mr. Lonnie Funk, executive vice president of operations for John Q. Hammons Hotels. "The SynXis® central reservation technology coupled with the marketing and GDS [Global Distribution System] expertise of the people at VIP is an impressive combination."
As per the agreement with VIP International, four of John Q. Hammons Hotels' independent hotel properties are benefiting from the business relationship between VIP International and the SynXis Corporation. VIP is equipping the four independent hotels with the SynXis reservations system for Global Distribution System (GDS) connectivity, SynXis Agent™, and Internet distribution by SynXis Book-A-Rez™.
SynXis Agent™ empowers each hotel property to make real-time rate and availability changes from any location with Internet access. The changes are uploaded immediately to all four of the major Global Distribution Systems.
In addition, the four John Q. Hammons Hotels properties will have online booking capabilities, using SynXis' Book-A-Rez™ technology, so that consumers using the Internet can book rooms directly through the property Web sites. Using SynXis, hotels can maintain a single, real-time representation of inventory for voice, GDS and Internet bookings.
Taking full advantage of VIP's proven GDS and marketing know-how, four of John Q. Hammons Hotels' independent hotels will be marketed electronically to travel professionals around the world through the four major GDS, including Amadeus, Galileo, Sabre and Worldspan under the new VIP chain code—"VE". They will also be well represented in the major Internet travel sites.
"Having John Q. Hammons Hotels, one of the most respected companies in the hospitality industry, put their confidence in VIP is an important step in our continued recognition as the reservation service provider of the future," said Kelly Blake, president of VIP International Corporation.
