LONG BEACH, Calif., Epson, the leading supplier of point-of-sale (POS) printing solutions, today announced its VAR partnership with Tesoro Technologies, Inc., a leading developer and integrator of POS hardware and software solutions for the hospitality and specialty retail industries. As an authorized Epson Acclaim VAR partner, Tesoro will purchase product directly from Epson and is entitled to Epson's advanced technical support, marketing support, education and services.

Under the terms of the agreement, Tesoro will resell Epson's TM-U200, TM-T88II and TM-U950 thermal and impact printers and DMD-202 pole displays as a part of their Java-based Volante 4.0 point-of-sale system. The open architecture design of Epson printers enable plug-and-play compatibility on the wide variety of hardware platforms Tesoro supports. In addition, Tesoro applications support both the Linux and Windows environments, requiring printers that deliver consistent functionality regardless of the customer's language requirements or software configuration. Epson printers offer full compliance with JavaPOS and OPOS standards, delivering superior, platform-independent performance on any Tesoro system, anywhere in the world.

Epson's customer-driven approach and technology leadership were the incentives that motivated Tesoro to join the Acclaim program. "The Epson Acclaim partnership gives us access to a high level of marketing, technical and product support-they give us a presence at shows we would otherwise not attend. Their product quality is very high, so it's extremely rare that Epson printers come back to us with problems," said Joe Brisevac, Managing Director of Tesoro. As an Acclaim partner, Tesoro also gains Epson's comprehensive web-based education and high-level developer support with single-point accountability.

According to Bud Weist, Director of Sales and Marketing at Epson, "Our partnership with Tesoro gives us a strong Canadian presence and also strengthens our position in the US hospitality market. Their focus on Java-based applications is where the future of POS is going-and with their one-stop hardware, integration and support services, customers can get everything under one roof."
