KEY WEST, Fla.--Doubletree Hotels has announced the opening of the 216-room Doubletree Grand Key Resort. Formerly the Grand Key Resort, this newest Doubletree full-service resort will continue to be operated and managed by Heartland Hotel Corporation and owned by Keys Hospitality and Healthcare Limited Partnership, under a franchise license agreement with Doubletree Hotel Systems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Hilton Hotels Corporation.

"Doubletree is pleased to have the opportunity to add another great property to our portfolio of year-round resorts in warm weather locations across the U.S.," said Dave Horton, senior vice president - brand management for Doubletree. "The Doubletree Grand Key Resort will offer our traditional blend of a uniquely welcoming atmosphere and comfortable accommodations to create a memorable hotel experience for anyone who visits The Keys."

Situated in the southernmost city in the continental United States, the Doubletree Grand Key Resort is situated on the quiet side of Key West, nestled adjacent to one of the most unique ecosystems in the Florida Keys, known as the Salt Ponds. This excellent location offers visitors the opportunity to view a combination of sea panoramas, nearby mangroves and marshes that provide habitat for a wide variety of native plants and wild birds. Yet the resort is just minutes away from world-renowned sportfishing, sailing, shopping and entertainment, all in a tropical paradise.

The design of the Doubletree Grand Key Resort was inspired by the casual elegance of the Caribbean. Unique tropical touches include a lobby with a vaulted ceiling, sweeping paddle fans and a 2,500-gallon saltwater aquarium that is home to a colorful array of fish and reef life indigenous to the nearby Florida Keys Marine Sanctuary.

Each of the Doubletree Grand Key Resort's spacious guest rooms, which include 16 one- and two-bedroom suites, feature coffeemakers, irons, hair dryers and plush robes. High-speed Internet access, as well as an array of interactive, on-screen guest and entertainment services round out the in-room offerings.

The hotel also features a collection of four moderately sized meeting rooms and executive boardrooms with 2,500 square feet of function space, which is perfectly suited for corporate retreats and board meetings, incentive groups and intimate receptions of up to 125 people.

A zero-entry pool and deck, an exercise room with cardiovascular equipment, massage facilities and a whirlpool round out the offerings for guests to relax and stay fit during their stay. Nearby recreation includes a variety of Florida Keys outdoor activities.

The Doubletree Grand Key Resort also offers the finest in casual dining. The resort's Palm Haven Restaurant promises to be a respected Key West address for exquisite local cuisine. The Sanctuary Lounge has the feel of a bygone era with its rich, yet tropical appointments, and the bar's specialty martinis and appetizers are very popular with guests. The poolside Gumbo Limbo Bar and Osprey Veranda follow in the normal island tradition, offering frozen specialties and other flavorful tropical libations.

"We are excited about our new relationship with Doubletree, which brings some incredible opportunities to our guests and employees alike," said Steve Robbins, hotel general manager. "Guests now have the opportunity to earn both hotel points and airline miles with one of the best travel reward programs available today. Our team members now have the backing of one of the most respected and powerful sales, marketing and technology infrastructures in our industry, which will provide incredible opportunities to introduce leisure and business travelers to our wonderful resort and fantastic destination."

Members of the Hilton HHonors guest reward program can earn Points & Miles(TM) for every qualifying stay at the Doubletree Grand Key Resort. Hilton HHonors provides more rewarding choices than ever before with more than 60 major airline, car rental and other travel-related companies.

Less than a mile from the Key West International Airport and a four-hour scenic coastal drive away from Miami International Airport, the Doubletree Grand Key Resort is located at 3990 Roosevelt Blvd., Key West, Fla. 33040; phone: 305/293-1818; fax: 305/296-6962.
