WASHINGTON & SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Marriott International, Inc. MAR and Intel Corporation today announced an agreement to launch a joint marketing campaign to promote the availability of wireless high-speed Internet access at 400 Marriott, Renaissance, Courtyard, Residence Inn, TownePlace Suites, Fairfield Inn and SpringHill Suites hotels in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany and Canada. More than 200 of Marriott's hotels currently offer wireless Internet access with an additional 200 being installed this spring -- representing the hotel industry's largest rollout of wireless high-speed Internet access. The program coincides with the upcoming launch of Intel's Centrino(TM) mobile technology for notebook PCs that feature built-in wireless capability.

The co-marketing agreement between Marriott and Intel will include advertising, direct mail and customer orientation introducing travelers to wireless internet access along with signage that identifies where wireless internet zones (aka Hot spots) are located. The signage is designed to assist users in identifying locations that have been tested for compatibility with Intel® Centrino(TM) mobile technology.

"High-speed Internet access is one of the most common requests at our worldwide reservations department and customers are selecting hotels based on its availability. High-speed access is increasingly available at work and at home and business travelers aren't willing to compromise a fast connection when they travel," said Lou Paladeau, vice president, technology business development, Marriott International.

"In preparation for the launch of Intel Centrino mobile technology, Intel is working with companies such as Marriott to verify wireless compatibility and drive awareness of hot spots and wireless technologies that will change how and where people compute," said Ann Lewnes Intel vice president, Sales and Marketing Group, and director, Intel Inside® Program and Co-Marketing. "Whether at work, in a hotel, at an airport or a cafe, Centrino mobile technology will bring the freedom and flexibility of being unwired."

Marriott is working with STSN, to offer the wireless service and Intel to verify the compatibility of the network with Intel Centrino mobile technology. High-speed wireless service is available in hotel lobbies, meeting rooms and public spaces and complements the current in-room high-speed Internet access. Marriott already leads the industry in offering guests in-room high-speed Internet access with more than 550 hotels installed.

To access wireless high-speed Internet access at a Marriott property, the guest simply turns on a wireless-enabled laptop and accesses the Internet. A purchase page then appears on the computer screen and customers can enter their billing information. Complete instructions on how to access Marriott's high-speed wireless service are available at www.stsn.com. The service will also be supported by a 24-hour, toll-free customer-assistance line. Current pricing for wireless Internet access in the U.S. is $2.95 for the first 15 minutes and $0.25 for each additional minute.
