OKLAHOMA CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The California Hotel & Lodging Association (CH&LA) was awarded two Chairman’s Cups from the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) which were presented at the AH&LA Summer Summit at the Hilton Hotel Skirvin. CH&LA was awarded one 2007 Chairman’s Cup for overall performance among all lodging associations for the most new members for the year and another Chairman’s Cup for the greatest percentage of new members among large state lodging associations.

The Chairman’s Cups were presented to Lynn Mohrfeld, CH&LA’s Executive Vice President by Thomas J. Corcoran, Jr., AH&LA’s Chairman at the AH&LA Board of Directors meeting. “CH&LA clearly exhibits excellence in their membership programs,” stated Corcoran, Chairman of the Board of FelCor Lodging Trust.

Created in 1999 to recognize membership success among partner state associations, the AH&LA Chairman’s Cup epitomizes membership excellence. CH&LA was one of only eight state lodging associations in the nation to receive a 2007 Chairman’s Cup.

CH&LA’s membership growth was primarily a result of an outstanding industry partnership coupled with the strength of their membership programs and services. In April of last year, CH&LA partnered with the California Association of Bed & Breakfast Inns for a very successful partnership. In addition, the association’s membership success can be attributed to award winning programs, such as the Disaster Preparedness Seminar series that were presented free across the state to lodging industry professionals and the CH&LA Compensation Survey, the only statewide industry compensation survey.

“This was a team effort – these two awards belong to the members who trust CH&LA to be the voice of their industry under the guidance of the volunteer leadership,” commented James O. Abrams, CH&LA’s President & CEO. “In addition, the execution of the programs and services by an excellent staff is at the core of why CH&LA won not one, but two AH&LA Chairman’s Cups.”
