Managing the housekeeping operation is not dissimilar in any hotel anywhere on the globe-- it involves coordinating a workforce that is spread out across the hotel using manual tools and processes. As a result, opportunities for improvement are limited. This glass ceiling has now been crushed.

The Holiday Inn in Brisbane, a member of the Intercontinental Hotels Group, deployed Optii Keeper to achieve the previously unthinkable. Not only has the hotel recorded a productivity improvement of 8.9% on the payroll, it has also been able to materialise a cleaning quality improvement and reduced the number of waiting guests at the same time.

"Our payroll has recorded a decrease in room attendant time per occupied room of 8.9%, which is reflected in our wage cost per room sold." says Raymond Faulkner, General Manager of the Holiday Inn. "On top of Optii Keeper's automation and supervisory capabilities, a better understanding of the labour content associated with actual cleaning time, travel time and non-productive time has enabled us to finetune our workforce. Not only has this enabled our team to improve our productivity, we have been able to use the KPI results to identify coaching hotspots for individuals and the team overall, therefore increasing the overall quality of cleaning at the same time."

Through the better coordination of room attendants and supervisors, Optii Keeper also facilitated a reduction in hotel guests waiting for clean rooms, which is evidenced by a reduction of 90% in complimentary breakfasts. "Optii Keeper has been an excellent choice for Holiday Inn Brisbane and I fully endorse its contribution to improving our guest experience, productivity and employee performance." says Mr Faulkner.

"We are very proud of the results Raymond and his team have achieved in such a short amount of time." says Soenke Weiss, Chief Executive of Optii Solutions. "Optii Keeper is designed to achieve the goals the Holiday Inn Brisbane has recorded and while the hotel is a compact and relatively small hotel, the potential efficiencies in terms of quality and productivity for larger hotels are obvious."
