A British business telephone company which has sold over a million units in its home markets is set to launch in the US with a debut appearance at Hitec.

To signal its first ever North American sales drive Interquartz UK is bringing its full range of eleven Voyager hotel 'phones to the hospitality technology expo. The exhibition will also see the worldwide debut of two new models, a cross-talk defeating two line handset and a small footprint unit designed for use in hotel bathrooms.

Commenting on the company's arrival Stateside Charles Williams, International Business Development Director, said: "We have established Interquartz as a leading player in the UK with a particularly strong presence in the hospitality sector. That's been achieved on a reputation for build quality which delivers the robustness and reliability upon which hoteliers rely, along with impressive specifications. Now is the time to bring that European success story to the US, a market which is crying out for our particular blend of premium spec products and affordability." He added that the products' robustness is underlined by provision of a lengthy 10 year manufacturer's warranty.

Interquartz has signalled the strength of its intent by choosing Hitec as the global preview platform for its new Voyager Two Line 9285 and Voyager Small Footprint 9826 models, both of which already have FCC approval. The former has been rigorously designed to eliminate cross talk, an irritation which highlights a prevalent flaw in many existing models on the US market. "This is a genuine two line handset not one which claims to be," commented a bullish Williams of the unit which also offers full hands-free operation and conferencing facility.

The new Small Footprint model features an illuminated keypad built into the hand piece with key features including a high voltage message waiting function and ability to switch between multi-frequency (MF) tone and loop disconnect (LD) pulse dialling.

The company is also using Hitec to introduce the world's hospitality professionals to its newly enhanced Voyager Standard 9281. The model, which is a staple of the UK market, has been upgraded to include automatic erasure of its redial memory and a single touch message retrieval key. "These are key enhancements to prevent disclosure and use of personal telephone numbers by subsequent room occupants and remove the need for messages to be retrieved via reception or dialling in to voicemail," explained Williams.
