Avani is bringing this philosophy to life firstly in Sri Lanka through a unique beachfront resort, introducing sophisticated travelers to the country’s rich natural and cultural beauty, and showcasing a resourceful attitude to resort experiences. Avani Bentota Resort & Spa will be fully completed by late 2011, and is located along Sri Lanka’s golden southern shores.
To offer a choice of destinations, Avani will also launch a second Sri Lankan resort in 2012. Avani Kalutara Resort is situated at the tip of the Kalu Ganga river mouth in Kalutara and will feature 105 modern and comfortable rooms.
The brainchild of Bill Heinecke, CEO and Chairman of Minor International, and Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotel Group, Avani draws upon Minor’s familiarity and expertise of its Asian roots. Following the brand’s initial two openings, which cement Minor’s presence in Sri Lanka, Avani will then capitalize on Minor’s experience further afield by opening additional properties in Asia, Australia, the Indian Ocean, Middle East, and Africa. The launch of the Avani brand complements Minor Hotels Group’s existing 5-star Anantara brand by creating a portfolio of diverse hotel experiences.
