During HITEC 2022 in Orlando, Adam Mogelonsky was a panelist for a session titled, “The Crypto NFT Hotel” which discussed the current state of cryptocurrencies, non-fungible token (NFT) applications for hotels, web3, blockchain, how NFT programs can work with existing hospitality loyalty programs and a bit on the metaverse.

Read the coverage article in Hospitality Technology here. As a 70-minute super session, a lot of ground was covered. What’s critical to remember in all this is that blockchain technology is in a state where email was in the 1990s. Don’t dismiss it outright — give it time!

  • Web 1.0 (1990s) = read only internet
  • Web 2.0 (2000s and 2010s) = read + write internet (and social media)
  • Web 3.0 (2020s onwards) = read + write + own
