Redhill Hospitality has Acquired Best Western Henry Parkes Motel
Redhill Hospitality (“RH”) has acquired Best Western Henry Parkes Motel at AUD4 million dollars. Located in Tenterfield, the 33-key property sits on a 7,606 square meters freehold land parcel that features a 55-seat restaurant and function and event space. The asset is situated along the New England Highway, which connects Brisbane to Sydney. The property was sold as vacant possession allowing RH to rebrand it as The Henry Parkes Motel Tenterfield. This property will add to RH’s portfolio of 10 regional motel assets across Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria.
MYAirline, Second LCC in Malaysia is Starting its Operation in December 2022
Malaysia-based MYAirline received its air service license from the Malaysian Aviation Commission on 15 November 2022, which allows the second low-cost carrier (“LCC”) in Malaysia to take on commercial flights and start selling air tickets. Currently, MYAirline has 330 staff and three Airbus A320 aircraft, with an aim to start flying within the Malaysia Peninsula before the end of 2022. Penang is likely to be the first destination MYAirline will fly to, with Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu, and Kuching coming next. The airline aims to operate 50 aircraft within the next five years.
Owen House by Hmlet to Debut in Singapore Early 2023
Singapore-based Coliving Operator Hmlet has announced to launch first hotel, Owner House by Hmlet (“OHH”) in the first quarter of 2023. The OHH will be in Little India, featuring 106 units that ranges up to 52 square meters in size. The hotel will also be equipped with a communal lobby and an island bar. The Chief Real Estate Office, Mr. Joshua Li, mentioned that the launch of OHH comes at an opportune time to ride the upswing momentum for the residential leasing market and tourism recovery as Singapore borders reopen. Including the recent merger with Habyt, Hmlet currently manages over 8,000 keys in 20 cities.
Shaun Juniper has Acquired the Lindeman Island in Queensland, Australia
Queensland developer Shaun Juniper has acquired the Lindeman Island in Queensland at an undisclosed sum. Located within the Whitsunday Archipelago, the island can be accessed by a 20-minute boat trip from Hamilton Island Airport. Lindeman Island is an expansive 637-hectare national park area with seven private beaches. It comprises 136-hectares of perpetual leasehold and four term leases on the southern end of the island. This includes the 225-key Club Med Resort that was closed in 2012, golf course and air strip. Shaun Juniper, the founder of Australia-based Juniper Group, saw tremendous up-side in the Lindeman Island as multiple Queensland Islands has ridden a wave of interest since the announcement of the 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games.
Marriott International to Debut the St. Regis brand in Australia with Multi-Billion-Dollar developer Gurner Group
Australian-based multi-billion-dollar developer Gurner Group has inked a deal with US-based Marriott International, that will see the debut of the St. Regis brand in Australia. The subject site will be located within the first tower of Gurner Group’s AUD1.7 billion mixed-used development, the La Pelago Project on the Gold Coast. The 185-key St. Regis Gold Coast Resort is slated to open by 2025 and will be at a height that is 50% taller than any other surrounding towers. The lowest hotel room will sit at the height of 43 stories. The property will include iconic offerings distinct to the St. Regis brand such as a specialty restaurant, world-class sky bar, pool bar, luxurious lounge, and the signature St. Regis Bar. Another 100-key residential development will take place above the hotel development, whereby owners will have their own private entrance and exclusive access to hotel-style services and amenities. The La Pelago will include wellness, a business center, ballroom, and event spaces, alongside 10,000m of amenity for its residents and guests.
