Mews launches Zero Dollar Authorization to protect hotel revenue and reduce payment failures
The new release protects revenue by validating cards instantly at booking without taking a payment – creating smoother experiences for guests and more profitable payments for hotels

New York - Mews, the leading operating system for hotels, has launched Zero Dollar Authorization, a new feature that helps protect revenue and ensure smoother payments. The feature enables hotels to instantly verify a guest’s card at booking without charging it, reducing failed payments, chargebacks, and lost revenue from no-shows.
As the feature is fully native to Mews Payments, hotels gain greater reliability, control, and efficiency without depending on third-party providers or manual checks – as well as simultaneously enhancing the guest experience.
Revenue protection should be effortless. Zero Dollar Authorization is another step toward a world where payments are completely frictionless: smarter for guests, safer for hotels, and ultimately more profitable for every property that runs on Mews. Susanne Sandler, SVP and General Manager of Fintech at Mews
Zero Dollar Authorization saves us a lot of time and stress. Payments are more reliable, card issues are caught early, and our front-desk team can focus on guests instead of chasing transactions. Lacey King, General Manager at Staypineapple’s The Maxwell Hotel in Seattle, Washington State
In addition to Zero Dollar Authorization, Mews is also introducing Preauthorization via Payment Request - a feature that places a temporary hold on the guest’s card to ensure funds are available and verified.
Zero Dollar Authorization strengthens the Mews Payments ecosystem, joining innovations like Multicurrency and Mews Terminal S2. Together, these solutions help hotels operate more efficiently, protect revenue, and deliver frictionless payment experiences.
