The hospitality industry in Scotland comprises, those who work in hotels, restaurants, bars, tourism, facilities management, cruise liners and a broad supply chain of service providers, and one which contributed £5.9bn to the Scottish economy 2019 and provided employment for 270,000 people. It is an industry along with retail, which has been the hardest hit this year, as measures have been taken to address the spread of the Coronavirus. However, there is also a clear recognition of the importance of the industry to the Scottish economy, extensive support from both UK and Scottish Governments to help the industry get back on its feet and keep as many jobs safe as possible.
