MAMMOTH LAKES, Calif. | In a year of near-record snowfall at this Eastern Sierra mountain resort, on Saturday, April 9, Intrawest enjoyed an avalanche of real state sales with the first release of The Westin Monache, Mammoth. All 141 condominium suites offered for sale sold out in less than four hours, ranging in price from $405,000 to just under $1.3 million. Construction on the landmark property has begun and is planned to open in summer 2007.
The Westin Monache will be the first full-service, luxury hotel brand in the Mammoth region and one of the first flagged 'condominium hotel' concepts to open in California. It is the third Intrawest-developed Westin after Le Westin Resort and Spa at Tremblant, Quebec, and Westin Trillium at Blue Mountain, Ontario.
"This is a landmark project and a major milestone for Mammoth as it becomes a world-class destination," said Douglas Ogilvy, Intrawest Regional Vice President, Southwest Region. "Demand was so strong for this concept new to the US that we're looking at moving the release of Phase Two – previously planned for next fall – to as early as May."
The second and final release of The Westin Monache comprising 89 condominium suites will come later this year. Details will be announced shortly.
