Red Roof Inn Receives High Marks for Bedding Comfort in Hotel Guest Satisfaction Study
Bedding Wars Come To Economy/Budget Segment

CARROLLTON, Texas Red Roof Inn has been recognized in bedding comfort by J.D. Power and Associates’ 2006 North America Hotel Guest Satisfaction Index Study. In the study, Red Roof Inn scored the highest out of the 15 largest hotel brands in “Comfort of Bed” in the Economy/Budget segment.

Power and Associates’ study shows that our customers have taken notice of the extra steps we have taken to ensure their comfort and happiness,” said Joe Wheeling, chief operating officer for Red Roof Inn. “We’re especially proud to be recognized as a leader in providing superior bedding in the Economy/Budget segment.”
Due to the continued success of Red Roof Inns’ $200 million multi-year national renovation plan that began in 2004, Red Roof Inn has proven itself a front-runner in the economy segment for sleep comfort. Red Roof Inn is the first economy brand to offer guests superior bedding with the comfort of an extra thick, pillow-top mattress pad, sheets stretching 130 inches, a Polar Fleece blanket and hypoallergenic pillows.
“We have found a way to give our guests many of the amenities they would expect at the mid-scale hotels,” said Carol Kirby, executive vice president for Accor North America. “One misconception many people have about the economy lodging segment is that sacrifices have to be made in order to find an affordable rate. Just because consumers are paying a lower rate, does not mean they are going without the things they need.”
In addition to the top bedding rating, Red Roof Inn scored high in other key areas. Red Roof Inn ranked second in overall guest satisfaction in the Economy/Budget segment, and sixth overall among 67 total brands in all market segments regarding ease of accessing the Internet. In addition, Red Roof Inn also rated third in the food and beverage category based on the new gourmet coffee service offering complimentary, coffees and lattes made from freshly-ground Arabica coffee beans in eight flavors.
Aside from upgraded bedding to enhance sleep comfort, the redesigned guestrooms are enhanced with contemporary furnishings and residential accents that contain smart amenities, including broader in-room entertainment options and Wi-Fi service through a partnership with T-Mobile HotSpot. The rooms also feature sleek, blond furnishings, granite countertops, bold accent wall color, pewter-finished light fixtures and bathrooms with European-style rounded shower curtains for added elbow room.
At this time, Red Roof Inn has completed 60 percent of its property renovations and the implementation of the new bedding program is 50 percent complete. Red Roof Inn is committed to completing the new bedding program by mid 2007.
