At the end of last month SnapShot Analytics opened the doors for all hotels to use its new analytics platform. Just in time for HITEC 2016 in New Orleans, the release was also timed to coincide with a test market in North America. HospitalityNet caught up with SnapShot CEO Stefan Tweraser, and co-founder and COO David Turnbull were at HITEC to promote new business. Here is a rundown of the Berlin startup's takeaways from the conference, and what's ahead business wise.

The two SnapShot executives were at HITEC to informally introduce the new analytics dashboard to the US Market. Advertised as "the free business intelligence (BI) tool set atop PMS data", SnapShot Analytics is also billed as a perfect partner for large and small hotels, as well as a vital tool for PMS providers. The company's CEO, Stefan Tweraser discussed with HN his company's key business development networking at HITEC. With direct hotel partnerships ongoing, apparently SnapShot is now turning to PMS providers and management companies to fuel new business development. Dr. Tweraser condensed for us his company's goals for the test market US as, first positioning Snapshot as a partner for smaller PMS providers.

  • Offering a free BI tool which gives PMS providers a competitive advantage and helps them save development cost
  • Allowing them to putt their brand and data in front of decision makers (who rarely log-in to the PMS)
  • By making their product more relevant in day-to-day decision making in the hotel
  • By providing joint marketing and sales opportunities
  • And by suggesting ideas for future joint business development and revenue sharing

SnapShot's CEO described the potential for PMS companies using the free and comprehensive business intelligence tool for "giving their solutions even more relevance in the day-to-day management of hotels." According to Tweraser, reactions from HITEC indicated his company's tool is perfectly suited for the US market. The former Google Germany director told us:

"Hitec 2016 has been an exciting event for Snapshot. After having signed up more than 1000 hotels in Europe in just four months, we made first cautious steps into the US market and the feedback has been phenomenal. At Hitec we have been able to meet numerous mostly US-based hotel tech companies - their feedback to Snapshot Analytics and potential cooperation in the US market has been very encouraging. Snapshot Analytics provides PMS companies with a free, comprehensive and beautifully designed BI tool which gives their tool even more relevance in the day-to-day management of hotels."

We also had the opportunity to speak briefly with SnapShot co-founder and COO David Turnbull (above), who founded Yeeld Solutions back in 2005. Turnbull was duly impressed with the organization and the scope of the HITEC event. the SnapShot executive duo met with some 30 plus PMS tech companies and hospitality brands during the 3 days at HITEC. The veteran hospitality exec parlayed his impressions on the 3000 delegate strong convention, especially his and Dr. Tweraser's discovery of the widespread awareness of the SnapShot brand. With thousands of hotels already testing the platform, seeing the brand's overall recognition seemed a rewarding experience for the two SnapShot execs.
Turnbull also called the new SnapShot product an innovation that is "globally available but US ready", given the tool's current key data sources of; STR, TripAdvisor, Google, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Other highlights of HITEC 2016 were the conference boot camps on digital strategy, the super sessions on the evolution of hospitality tech professionals, and the opening keynote by Jer Throp of the Office of Creative Research.
