The BLLA Team sits down with Anton Moore, General Manager of Gansevoort Meatpacking & Winner of the Boutique Hotel General Manager of the Year Award! Hear what Anton has to say.
BLLA: How did you enter the hospitality industry?
AM: I was born into a hospitality family in Ireland. My aunt and mentor, Anne Moylette, owned a famous hotel called the Downhill Hotel in the west of Ireland. It came naturally for me to fall into the hospitality industry.
BLLA: How do you stay authentic to the boutique essence?
AM: Oftentimes, people get it wrong when they try too hard. I feel that creating something boutique and unique comes naturally. I stay authentic to the boutique essence by surrounding myself with creative thinkers and like-minded individuals.
BLLA: Why do you believe in the boutique movement?
AM: Unique experiences are often created in boutique hotels, where key curation of style and design is most important.
BLLA: How does being a boutique hotelier provide fulfillment in your life?
AM: Someone as passionate and creative as I am, being in this environment brings me great pride and satisfaction – from curating the spaces to the service culture, combined with being a prominent member of the community.
