One of the most significant sustainability challenges in hospitality is the environmental footprint of hotel buildings. In existing lifecycle measurements of hotel buildings, the build phase represents only 13% of the emissions, whereas operations represent the remaining 87%, but by 2050, the carbon split in new construction will be almost 50/50.
