Dr. Anne-Kathrin Zschiegner

Anne-Kathrin Zschiegner is the Executive Director of The Long Run, a global community of nature-based tourism businesses committed to driving holistic sustainability through the 4Cs framework — Conservation, Community, Culture, and Commerce.

With more than 15 years of experience in sustainable development and hospitality, Anne- Kathrin has worked across Africa, Europe, and Asia, guiding tourism enterprises to balance ecological integrity with commercial resilience. Under her leadership, The Long Run has grown to protect over 23 million acres of nature and support more than 350,000 people through its members’ collective efforts.

A strong advocate for systems thinking and measurable impact, Anne-Kathrin champions a shift from sustainability as compliance to sustainability as aspiration — helping tourism businesses act today for a better tomorrow.

Anne is deeply committed to sustainability and has devoted her professional life to assisting companies in adopting responsible practices and strengthening their resilience by integrating sustainability into their core operations and management.

Her journey with The Long Run, one of the world’s largest collections of leading nature-based travel and conservation projects, began in 2011, and she presently holds the position of Director.

In this capacity, she closely works with leading nature-focused travel enterprises across the globe while strongly collaborating with tourism and conservation organisations to demonstrate that the tourism industry can positively contribute to addressing climate and biodiversity challenges.
