Dr. Michael A. Kruesi is an Associate Professor in the Hospitality and Tourism Management Programme at the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT). He began his career in hospitality and tourism in 2002, working in hotels in New Zealand, Switzerland and Peru, before completing his PhD at Auckland University of Technology (AUT) in 2015. His academic career has since taken him from AUT to the National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism in Taiwan, and now to SIT, where he has been a faculty member for seven years.
Dr Kruesi's research and teaching are best summarised by the three pillars of sustainability: environmental protection, economic viability and social wellbeing. Specifically, his research focuses on non-equity governance structures and technology augmentation in hospitality, on organisational behaviour and leadership practices that promote positive employee outcomes, and on the measurement and benchmarking of the environmental impacts of hotels, attractions and events, together with the revenue optimisation and economic incentives of sustainability-based strategies more broadly.
Dr Michael A. is panel expert of the Sustainability in Hospitality panel.
