HOSPA Hospitality Finance and Technology Master Classes at Hotelympia 2012

HOSPA – the Hospitality Professionals Association for Finance, Revenue Management and IT – is delighted to announce the speakers and subjects for the free-of-charge HOSPA Master Classes at Hotelympia 2012, to be held from 26 February to 1 March at ExCel London in the capital’s Docklands.
The HOSPA Master-Classes on topical issues ranging from Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance, to the latest UK hotel industry forecasts and technological innovations, will be a key part of the HOSPA Technology Hub seminar programme – supported by micros FIDELIO and HOSPA’s US-based strategic partner HFTP (Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals) – at Hotelympia 2012.
The first HOSPA Master Class will be staged from 1pm to 1.45pm on Sunday, 26 February with an examination by HOSPA Chief Executive Carl Weldon and HFTP Chief Executive Officer Frank Wolfe CAE of what can be achieved by embarking on ‘Careers in Hospitality Finance, IT and Revenue Management’. They will be helping people understand how and what to study, as well as outlining some of the topics that currently are proving most challenging in these fields.
From 1.30pm to 2pm on Monday, 27 February, the second HOSPA Master Class – entitled ‘Shrink to Fit: Five Ways to Reduce Your PCI Compliance Requirements’ – will be delivered by Richard Hollis, Chief Executive Officer and Lead QSA (Qualified Security Assessor) for Orthus Ltd, a European information security risk management consulting firm. Implementing the PCI DataSecurity Standards (DSS) can at best be costly and time consuming and Richard Hollis will be detailing five easy ways to reduce significantly the scope, impact and budget associated with PCI compliance.
From 3pm to 3.45pm on Tuesday, 28 February, the third HOSPA Master Class will be dedicated to ‘IT Guest Technology’, Bryan Steele, Managing Director of Jireh-Tek and Chairman of the HOSPA IT Community Committee, will be reviewing guest technologies available present and perhaps future, and what these developments will mean for hoteliers and their IT managers.
The next HOSPA Master Class will take place on Wednesday, 29 February, at 2pm when Konstanze Auernheimer, Director of Marketing and Analysis at STR Global, will be giving a 45-minute review and analysis of last year’s hotel industry sales perfomance and trends under the title: ‘Strong Headwinds – 2011 Was A Good Year, But Uncertainty Ahead’.
On Thursday, 1 March from 12 noon to 12.45pm, the final HOSPA Master Class will be presented by Liz Hall, Head of Hospitality and Leisure Research at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), who will be giving a hotel industry forecast for the future under the title ’The Next Two Years Forward for the Hotel Industry’ – reviewing the latest PwC detailed forecast for the next two years for the UK hotel industry.
