With Marriott International's fast pace of growth over the past year, CEO Arne Sorenson was bound to be posed that age-old question: How much is too much? Marriott acquired South Africa-based Protea Hotels as well as Canadian hotelier Delta in the past year, not to mention adding lifestyle brands AC Hotels and Moxy — both of which got their start in Europe — to its portfolio of brands in the U.S. Marriott now operates 18 brands around the world.
