Tridex Establishes Agreement With POS Reseller Century Data Systems to Sell Progressive Software's POS/Back Office Solutions

Westport, CT -- Century Data Systems promotes Progressive Software's solutions through its extensive network of sales and services locations.

Tridex Corporation (Nasdaq National Market: TRDX), a leading provider of retail technology solutions, announced today that it has signed an agreement with Century Data Systems to represent Progressive Software's food service technology solutions to the restaurant market. Century Data Systems, one of the largest resellers for POS systems in the U.S., becomes a critical addition to Progressive Software's newly created indirect reseller channel, offering an extensive sales and field services operation from its 9 offices along the Eastern seaboard.

"Our goal, in targeting the quick service segment of the food service market, was to identify a partner with a solid industry reputation that would enable us to launch and get to critical mass quickly," said Todd Barstow, President & COO at Century Data Systems. "Clearly, we believe that Progressive Software is a dominant player in the quick service segment, and meets our requirements of offering an open system software platform." For Barstow, one of the other unique advantages is that Progressive's IRIS POS/Back Office system maintains hardware independence and operates on a variety of platforms, which supports Century Data's own approach to the market - to provide flexibility for customers.

Progressive Software and Century Data Systems have already begun jointly marketing to major franchisees in the food service sector and already have common clients; the alliance, therefore, will further strengthen these efforts and give operators a convenient one-stop source for all of their technology requirements. Century Data Systems will concentrate on the mid-size and large franchisee groups with under 100 sites, leading with Progressive Software's Windows-based IRIS restaurant information management system.

Progressive Software's intelligent restaurant information system, IRIS, is a 32-bit Microsoft Windows NT-based system for quick service and table service operators that combines advanced front of the house POS capabilities and powerful Back Office resource planning services to manage virtually every aspect of store operations. This includes an intuitive touchscreen POS for order entry, drive-thru and kitchen display management, as well as full transactional integrity, data redundancy and replication. Back Office features include menu mix and preparation, time & attendance, purchasing and inventory control, and demand forecasting.

"We believe that Century Data Systems will become a key contributor to our sales success in the indirect channel, and will allow us to open new doors in the Eastern region of the U.S.," said Jerry Wilson, Vice President of Sales at Progressive Software. "The company has a long history of experience in this market, and clearly has the coverage and the sales and support expertise we are seeking as a business partner."

Seth Lukash, Chairman and CEO of Tridex, added, "The partnership between Progressive Software and Century Data Systems is a win-win for the food service industry. We respect and appreciate the achievements that Century Data Systems has made in the industry, and we believe our two companies share a common philosophy for delivering high quality products and services. We look forward to having Century Data Systems as part of our sales team."
