NEON and PCRoomLink Internet-Enable Thousands of Hotel Rooms; Go-Live a Success with NEON and Microsoft

DENVER -- New Era of Networks, Inc. NEON today announced that PCRoomLink, a new service of Camanco Communications, Inc. that Internet-enables hotel rooms, has gone live using NEON technology. Based on a close relationship with Microsoft Corp. and NEON, PCRoomLink installs Internet and Microsoft software-ready PCs in hotel rooms for use by business travelers. Every hotel offering PCRoomLink runs NEON e-Biz 2000 as part of the service.

"We want travelers to conduct business in their hotel rooms as though they were in their offices. With PCRoomLink, connecting to corporate headquarters from hotel rooms will become as commonplace as using the telephone or watching TV," said Jim Rossi, Camanco founder and chairman of the board. PCRoomLink enables users to order pizza and have it delivered to their hotel rooms, send and receive email, access their corporate Intranet and download files -- all without the need for traveling with a laptop computer.

"The Internet has steered the focus of business toward developing products and partnerships that assist companies in the areas of e-commerce, intra-company knowledge management and internal business operations," said Peter Boit, vice president of e-Business at Microsoft. "Using integrated technology from Microsoft and NEON to Web-enable hotel rooms globally, PCRoomLink ensures that corporations are never disconnected from their traveling employees, thus eliminating one of the long-standing barriers of conducting business on the road." PCRoomLink users have access to the full suite of Microsoft Office products including Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.

PCRoomLink has gone live in several U.S. hotel chains and will soon be offered globally. The service is available at the Trump International Hotel and Tower; the Houstonian Hotel, Club and Spa; the Excelsior Hotel; and selected Sheraton, Radisson and Holiday Inn chains.

"The new millennium brought with it a new approach to hospitality. In addition to mints on their pillows, corporate executives now need services that enable them to stay in touch with headquarters," said Mike Whitson, director of sales and marketing for the Houstonian Hotel, Club and Spa -- Houston's only four-star, four-diamond, preferred property. "The concept of Web-enabling our business-traveling clientele has proven successful. With PCRoomLink, our guests can start or finish their day's work from the privacy and comfort of their own rooms, without toting laptop computers through busy airports."

NEON e-Biz 2000, an e-Business Integration Server fully compliant with the Windows® DNA platform, integrates PCRoomLink with hotel legacy billing and property management systems. NEON's e-Biz 2000 enables organizations to deploy an integration solution based on familiar Microsoft standards, providing customers with integration tools to easily implement e-Business services. NEON e-Biz 2000 is the primary application integration platform running on Windows NT and the upcoming Windows 2000. NEON e-Biz 2000 utilizes services provided by MSMQ and SQL Server 7.0. NEON and Microsoft worked closely together with Camanco to design and implement PCRoomLink.

"It is important to choose the best-of-breed partners and solutions to support us in Web-enabling our hospitality alliances. With NEON and Microsoft, we ensure a smooth transition to Internet-based applications and ease-of-use technology for business travelers worldwide," added Rossi.
