KFC Franchise Selects Aloha QuickService And NCR POS Technology
Ibertech partners with NCR to create total solution for restaurants
BEDFORD, TX -- Ibertech, Inc., creators of Aloha POS, announced this week that Tem-Kil, a family-owned KFC franchise based in Texas, has selected Aloha QuickService as its point-of-sale solution. The rollout includes a partnership with NCR Corporation, which is providing NCR 7454 POS workstations and printers as well as hardware installation and maintenance services.
Based in the East Texas city of Nacogdoches, Tem-Kil has 52 store locations throughout the state plus its corporate headquarters.
Dan Sitton, Tem-Kil's treasurer and CFO, said his company needed to upgrade their previous POS systems which were almost nine years old, and required a solution which would be Y2K compliant. He added that it was critical to have installs completed in all 53 locations by Dec. 31 to beat the Y2K bug fears.
He explained that the choice of Ibertech's software and NCR hardware was an easy one. "We have been consistently happy with NCR, and we were very pleased with the offering that Ibertech brought to us," he said. "Everything and everyone involved just came together."
Bill Grant, Ibertech's vice president of sales, said it was a tremendous event to welcome Tem-Kil and the KFC locations into the Aloha POS family. "This was an outstanding win for Ibertech. We were fortunate to team with NCR to deliver a solution that had the customer dealing directly with the hardware and software manufacturers. At the end of the day, Ibertech and NCR listened extremely well and crafted a superior price, cost, and local service value for Tem-Kil."
Brian Murphy, NCR vice president for Hospitality Solutions in the Americas, called the Tem-Kil rollout a "great win for both Ibertech and NCR."
"Ibertech worked very hard to meet this client's needs," Murphy said. "There were two reasons we won this business together. First, NCR and Ibertech knew the market and knew the products, and remained dedicated to Tem-Kil's needs. And second, we offered an excellent solution."
Murphy added that Ibertech was as attentive to Tem-Kil after the installations began as before the sale. "Ibertech's after-the-sale support is outstanding - an important factor in a situation like this. Ibertech always assigned the right resources to make sure things were done right for Tem-Kil."
Sitton said the training provided by Ibertech was excellent and made for an easy rollout. "All the go-live dates went smoothly. It's an easy-to-operate system and it appears that all employees have picked up Aloha very well."
The 52 KFC stores and the corporate headquarters for Tem-Kil are currently using Aloha QuickService and the Aloha management extension packages Aloha Video+MX and Aloha QuickCount+MX. In the first months of 2000, the sites will begin implementing the Inventory package in the Aloha suite.
"As one of Ibertech's business partners, NCR offers the 7454 hospitality POS system, which is one of the industry's best-performing workstations for a quick-serve environment," Grant said. "It offers the ruggedness and functionality foodservice operators demand in a highly flexible system that will help them gain a competitive advantage."
Mike Scott, Ibertech's Director of Corporate Services, said despite an extremely aggressive schedule -- 53 sites in five weeks, with days off for holidays -- the Tem-Kil installations went smoothly. He gives credit to the strict preparations in all areas. "The key to success in this rollout was planning, without a doubt. The old saying 'plan your work and work your plan' came to life. It was an overwhelming, yet do-able job, and now that we have done it, there is a real sense of accomplishment and pride."
He added that there was clear communication between Ibertech, Tem-Kil, and NCR, so all parties involved could reach the end-of-year deadline for the rollout.
"We were very honest about expectations and needs on all fronts," he said. "Ibertech kept up its end of the bargain, and so did everyone else. It was real teamwork."
Sitton particularly complimented the installation teams from Ibertech. "I was especially impressed with that group - they really came through for us."
