InfoGenesis Selected for Prestigious Bacara Resort & Spa
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- A five-star resort in the making for more than 20 years, the Bacara Resort & Spa opened on Sept. 1, powered by InfoGenesis point-of-sale.
InfoGenesis was selected for the prestigious beach resort after a thorough competitive review that focused on technologies capable of providing the highest level of service to Bacara guests.
Revelation, the award-winning point-of-sale solution by InfoGenesis, was selected to manage food and beverage and retail operations throughout the resort. With operations ranging from gourmet restaurants to informal cafes, from in-room dining, to pool and beachside services, Bacara is planning to raise the bar when it comes to guest service.
"Our plan is to offer guests the opportunity to order food, send faxes, check their account, or any number of activities right from their private poolside cabana," said Shad Lofgreen, director of Information Systems. "Technology is an important component in our ability to deliver a new standard of service to our guests and Revelation was an easy choice to handle it all."
"We were pleased with the integration flexibility InfoGenesis offered," added Jeremy Rock, president of the RockIT Group, Bacara's technology consulting group. "As the winner of Microsoft's RAD 2000 award, InfoGenesis clearly demonstrated that they are a best of breed application.
"Revelation provided an easy integration with the hotel's property management system (PMS) through its Windows NT architecture and open platform design. The open nature of the InfoGenesis product delivers on the promise of better integration today and for tomorrow's emerging technologies," said Rock.
Bacara's unique point-of-sale solution includes a combination of 35 IBM touch screen terminals, 10 Mitsubishi Amity XPn handheld touch screen tablets, and IBM Netfinity file server. The exclusive property will be among the first users of the new IBM SurePOS 500 terminals. Handheld devices will be used for extensive poolside and beachside offerings and connect to the server via a wireless network.
"We wanted a partner who had demonstrated a track record of handling premier resort operations and who was interested in helping us achieve new advances in guest service," said Jacque Villeneuve, resort manager for Bacara. "Another vendor we considered reduced their price considerably as the decision date approached, but large discounts could not be the deciding factor when quality of guest experience was at stake."
"Preparing for any grand opening is a huge task. We set a high standard from the start and wanted to ensure that we delivered on our goal," stated Rock. "InfoGenesis is experienced at these types of high-pressure grand openings. Working with them these past months provided us with a team that we knew could deliver when it counted."
