Hyatt Receives Nod for New Denver Convention Center Hotel - Hyatt Selected to Manage New Convention Center Hotel, Hyatt's Third in Denver
CHICAGO / Nov. 20, 2000--Hyatt Hotels Corporation recently announced it has been chosen to operate the highly anticipated 1100-room hotel across from the newly expanded Colorado Convention Center.
Developers Bruce Berger and Seth Berger of Denver awarded Hyatt the management job for the $220 million hotel, which is scheduled to break ground next fall and subsequently open mid-2003. Design and construction details are being finalized.
The new Hyatt will have a 30,000-square-foot grand ballroom, the largest in the state, and will also include a 15,000-square-foot junior ballroom and an additional 25,000-square feet of meeting space.
The new hotel will complement the two existing Hyatt hotels in the area. The 511-room Hyatt Regency Denver located in the downtown business and entertainment district caters to the individual business traveler, while Hyatt Regency Tech Center with 450 rooms is the focal point Denver's technological center.
"We are thrilled that Hyatt was chosen to manage this exciting property," said Kevin Mallory, executive vice president, Hyatt Hotels Corporation. "With our successes managing convention center hotels around the world, we are confident that this new property in Denver will be no exception. We look forward to working with the Bergers on this project and making Denver a premier destination for conventions in years to come"
