The acquisition of ProHost and RSViP enables Breakaway to immediately meet industry demand for table management and reservation management solutions," said Tom Patty, president of Breakaway. "It also will extend our current product line to the food service industry and mark our entry into new market segments that we have not reached before."

ProHost and RSViP each have more than 250 installations in restaurant, hotels, resorts, casinos, cruise lines, and amusement park properties around the world. Breakaway will support the current customer base for ProHost and RSViP and will work with resellers and other POS vendors and hardware manufacturers that have integrated with these products.

Breakaway also plans to integrate these products into its proprietary POS system, Breakaway VISION, to enhance communication between the front and back of the restaurant. Breakaway will market the products under the names Breakaway ProHost and Breakaway RSViP.

Wayne Rock, one of the originators of the ProHost and RSViP software products, has joined Breakaway as business development manager. Initially, Rock will oversee transition of the products from OpenTable to Breakaway and then will concentrate on business development for the company.

The ProHost seating management solution has revolutionized casual dining restaurant operations since 1992 by providing a totally integrated system now known as the industry standard. ProHost includes automated wait list, server/section assignment, and table management capabilities to increase table turns and help improve operating margins.

With the introduction of RSViP reservation management solution in 1996, booking reservations in restaurants and hotels became much more efficient with the introduction of multiple terminal, multiple restaurant booking capability, customer recognition, and marketing tools.
