Community Leaders to Raise the Hyatt Flag, the Historic 'Bedford Flag,' And Flags Representing the 23 Nationalities of the Hotel Staff At July 1st Ceremony

BOSTON, Hyatt Hotels Corporation announced today that the former Swissotel, located at One Avenue de Lafayette, has been re-flagged as the Hyatt Regency Boston Financial District. The four-star, four-diamond hotel will undergo a multi-million dollar renovation of its 500 rooms and restaurant in 2004.
"We are pleased to bring the Hyatt flag to downtown Boston in a unique and exceptional location," said David Nadelman, a 23-year Hyatt veteran who was recently named the General Manager. He concluded, "We are looking forward to greeting a broad diversity of international and domestic travelers at our property in the heart of Boston."
Community leaders will join Hyatt Executives at a private ceremony, July 1st at 4:30 PM at the hotel to raise the Hyatt flag, the Boston flag and a rare vintage replica of the historic Bedford Flag, considered the oldest American flag still in existence; flags from 33 other countries will also be raised or displayed, representing each nationality of the diverse hotel staff.
Announcing the Hyatt Regency Boston Financial District
The hotel marks another "rung" in the development of what has come to be known as burgeoning "Ladder District", located in the Downtown Crossing area of Boston. In the last eighteen months, the area has welcomed dynamic, upscale restaurants, recreation facilities as well the newly restored landmark Paramount Theater.
In addition to upscale nightlife and proximity to Boston's important financial institutions, Hyatt guests are near prime shopping destinations such Filene's Basement, H&M and Macy's and are just steps from the Boston Common. Last summer the area also became a critical stop in the new MBTA Silver Line transportation system that runs at its center.
The Hyatt Regency Boston is the third property in the Boston area, joining the Hyatt Harborside, at Boston's Logan International Airport and the Hyatt Regency Cambridge, situated on the Charles River.
It was also announced that the property's former restaurant, Cafi Suisse, is being reintroduced as "Avenue One" under the direction of Executive Chef Brad Ozerdem, formerly of Hyatt Regency Cambridge's Zephyr on the Charles and Spinnaker, who was recently named Hyatt's Executive Chef of the Year for 2002.
