Lodging Hospitality: 'Speaking Out' Director of ATM placements, Roberto Sanson, was recently published in the November 2002 issue of Lodging Hospitality.
As you walk into the hotel lobby, you realize that you need cash. It's raining outside, and you don't feel like getting wet or lost. You begin to scan the room for an ATM. To the left is the front desk, but there's no ATM. To the right is the gift shop, concierge desk, but again, no ATM. However, you happen to notice that by the concierge desk, there is a kiosk. You pull out your debit card and look for a place to swipe it. What's this? It's not an ATM - it's a city information kiosk! Geez!!!! So, the search continues… The concierge is busy with a guest and the front desk is a zoo. A bellhop walks by and you ask him, "Excuse me, where is the nearest ATM?" Well, we have two close by. There's one in the hotel if you take the elevator to the 3rd floor, go down the hall past the restrooms, and take a right; you'll find the ATM to the left. Or, if you go out of the hotel, take a right, walk two blocks and cross the street, you will see a bank ATM. Wow! So much for convenience.
