Austin, Texas | To take advantage of the large gathering of hospitality technology professionals at HITEC, the Convention Industry Council (CIC) will conduct an affiliated session at the same time. The APEX Initiative and Meeting Management Technology tutorial is June 21, in room C-149 from 2:30 - 4 p.m. at the Dallas Convention Center. The Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition and Conference (HITEC®) begins that same day, June 21, at the Dallas Convention Center in Dallas, Texas and runs through June 24.

Having HITEC attendees participate in the session will provide APEX with access to the driving force of computerization behind the hospitality and convention industries. The tutorial will provide a forum for exchange between HITEC attendees and the CIC Technology Advisory Council.

The session will cover what is behind the APEX Initiative (Accepted Practices Exchange), a program that is developing the best accepted practices for the meetings, conventions and exhibitions industry with the goal of streamlining the way the industry does business. The meeting will focus on the status of two demonstration projects that address Event Specifications and Rooming Lists.

All HITEC attendees are invited to this 90 minute tutorial, but space is limited to 50 people. If interested, RSVP by June 7, 2004 to EJ Siwek at mailto:[email protected] or (203) 207-5454.

Eight different affiliated meetings are being held at HITEC, starting Sunday, June 20. For a full schedule, visit the HITEC web site.

The Convention Industry Council's 31 member organizations represent more than 98,000 individuals, as well as, 15,000 firms and properties involved in the meetings, conventions and exhibitions industries. Formed in 1949 to provide a forum for member organizations seeking to enhance the industry, the CIC facilitates the exchange of information and develops programs to promote professionalism with the industry and educates the public on its profound economic impact. In addition to the CMP Program, CIC is also responsible for the Hall of Leaders Program as well as the Accepted Practices Exchange (APEX). APEX is working to unite the entire meeting, convention and exhibition industry in the development and eventual implementation of voluntary standards, which will be called accepted practices.
