CARROLLTON, Texas | Accor North America, one of the largest hotel chain owner and operators in North America, announced the winners of the 2006 Motel 6 Franchisee of the Year Award, Hitu and Bharti Patel of San Antonio, Texas, at its annual conference in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Franchisee of the Year Award is presented to the property owner that consistently produces outstanding results in all areas of operation. Winners of the award serve as advocates of the Motel 6 brand and practice its philosophy by achieving high quality and hospitality standards. These standards are measured by guest survey results, quality measurements, property visits and low occurrence of guest complaints.

The winning property, Motel 6 #4039, located at 7950 South Interstate Highway 35 in San Antonio, is owned and operated by Hitu and Bharti Patel. The property has remained a top performer since joining the Accor family in 2000. In 2006, the property scored an outstanding 95% in overall guest satisfaction and 96% for friendliness of staff.

On March 1, Hitu Patel was appointed as the newest member of the Advisory Council for Motel 6. Members of the Advisory Council serve as liaisons between the Motel 6 franchise system and Accor North America executives to address matters that directly impact Motel 6 franchisees.

In addition to their valuable contributions to the Motel 6 franchise system, Mr. Patel is a member of the Executive Committee of the Gujarati Samaj of San Antonio, and Mrs. Patel serves a member of the Board of Directors for the Alamo Asian American Chamber of Commerce.
