AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS | Over 150 attendees from over 25 countries convened at the sold-out 2008 European Hospitality Technology Educational Conference (EHTEC). EHTEC, a service of Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®), continues through 12 February 2008 at the Hilton Amsterdam Hotel in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
“EHTEC 2008 is a well-balanced mix of attendees and vendors that focuses on education instead of exposition,” said Frank Wolfe, CAE, CEO of HFTP. “With EHTEC 2008’s set-up, attendees and vendors are able to openly discuss solutions to issues relevant to the European hospitality industry.”
EHTEC 2008 began Sunday evening with certification exams and the Welcome Reception. Attendees gathered for a rare opportunity to network with fellow colleagues and vendors.
Monday morning’s Opening Session was well-received, with hospitality industry experts discussing technology trends, challenges and innovations. John Cahill, CHTP, CHA, CIO of Denihan Hospitality Group and former HFTP global president, moderated the session’s panel of experts, which included: Oliver Bernet, SVP of IT and CIO for Moevenpick Hotels & Resorts; Carson Booth, VP of IT in Europe, Africa and Middle East for Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. and HFTP global director; and Michael Levie, CEO of CitizenM.
Tuesday’s sessions offer more hot topics in Europe, including the future of hotel technology and running a world-class IT department.
The boutique conference offers two full days of focused technology education and networking opportunities with European hospitality professionals. The EHTEC Advisory Council, a group of global hospitality experts, designed the conference to cover the technology topics that are most prominent in the region.
