European hotel prices have fallen 16 percent in November, from last month’s average of 103 pounds to 86 pounds. All of the tHPI’s top 50 cities are offering lower hotel rates this month, and travellers can find favourable deals in typically expensive cities such as Paris, Rome, Venice and Madrid. Significant price reductions can be found in Europe’s most popular tourist cities this month, with all 50 cities in the tHPI experiencing rate reductions between 6 and 44 percent. In Budapest and in Krakow, an overnight stay in a standard double room costs 54 pounds, and therefore 19% and 21% lower than in the previous month. The same is true in Prague, where prices have fallen 23 percent to 70 pounds. Prices in the popular destinations of Paris (118 pounds, -23 percent) and Madrid (87 pounds, -14 percent) show additional declines over the past month. Many Italian cities are also offering cheaper hotel rates to November travellers; Venetian prices have fallen 44% percent to 97 pounds, Rome has seen declines of 31 percent (down to 96 pounds), and Bologna’s rates have sunk23 percent to 82 pounds per night. Greek hotel rates have reached their lowest point this year with an average of 72 pounds per night.
