In the wake of the Coronavirus crisis, Swiss-based scenario planning expert Woody Wade has developed an intensive e-course to assist decision makers in the hospitality arena visualize the relevant details of the new "business landscapes" that could emerge for them - during the crisis phase and in the post-crisis terrain that follows.

More and more decision makers in hospitality are realizing that, as catastrophic as the current crisis situation already is, how their world will look after COVID-19 is finally beaten also needs strategic attention. A "new normal" will unfold for the travel and hospitality business, and for all the companies serving these industries. It is almost certain to be different in many key aspects than the terrain they operated in through 2019.

To help executives understand how this new landscape could be different for them - and identify company-specific opportunities and challenges that could arise - business foresight expert and author Woody Wade has launched "Scenario Planning for the Coronavirus World", an intensive e-course on the well-known Udemy online education platform.

A new world is coming

"When the crisis phase is over, the hotel industry is not simply going to return to the pre-virus world as if none of this ever happened," said Wade. "Too much has already changed, and more changes may well be coming, too. Right now, people are understandably in survival mode. But if you're running a company - no matter how big or small - you need to think about how the crisis could yet continue, and how your business landscape could continue to evolve further. More importantly, you also need to think about the post-crisis landscape, because it's in this new terrain that you will have to deploy modified strategies and implement new ideas, for the longer term. What will this terrain look like as a business environment? I strongly recommend using scenario planning as a structured way to foresee how things might realistically turn out."

The new e-course only requires a time investment of one hour. It briskly leads participants through the structured process of scenario planning, then focuses on how to develop company-specific scenarios for the two phases: during the crisis, and in the post-crisis "new normal".
