In 2023, Accor launched a brand rejuvenation and modernisation strategy to ensure guests can continue to experience the same level of quality in all its hotels, everywhere they travel around the region. Since its launch, over 70 hotels have already been renovated, with approximately 60 projects in the plan or underway. The momentum of Accor’s strategy demonstrates the engagement of its hotel partners across the region who have been the driving force behind the renovations projects.

Our modernisation strategy in Europe, the historic home of Accor, underscores our commitment to innovation to ensure we continue to excite and delight our guests, while also strengthening brand loyalty and long-term profitability. Julie White, Chief Commercial Officer Europe & North Africa, Premium, Midscale & Economy, Accor

Among a wide range of key hotel renovations around the region, some of the recent projects include:

Mercure Wien City (Austria) – Located in Vienna’s vibrant second district, the hotel offers guests easy access to many the city’s attractions including St. Stephen's Cathedral, the Hofburg and the State Opera House. Following an extensive modernisation of the hotel’s 123 guest rooms and communal areas, including its reception, lounge and bar, the hotel seamlessly combines the refined elegance of the Viennese Art Nouveau with modern comforts and interiors that are inspired by Wiener Werkstätte, one of the longest-lived design movements of the twentieth century.

Novotel Warsaw Centrum (Poland) – To mark its 50th anniversary, this hotel recently finalised an extensive renovation project, which repositioned 364 guest rooms and corridors spanning over 12 floors, in addition to a conference space, a restaurant and office space. Led by the renowned Sundukovy Sisters Design & Architecture Studio, the project lasted 18 months and incorporated sustainable materials and advanced energy-saving systems, all aimed at enhancing the hotel’s standards. Novotel Warsaw Centrum is situated in the heart of the capital city, and it’s the perfect base to explore its bustling city centre and many attractions.

Mercure Napoli Centro Angioino (Italy) – Located right in Naples’ historical old town, close to the port and with panoramic view of the majestic Maschio Angioino and the Mediterranean Sea, this hotel has recently renovated several key spaces, including an expanded reception area, 99 upgraded guest rooms as well as a modern fitness centre, further enhancing the hotel's offering to guests. The renovation also included new elegant flooring throughout and an upgraded cocktail bar.

ibis Styles Barcelona Sant Joan Despi (Spain) – Following a full renovation and rebranding, this hotel has been completely redesigned to highlight ibis Style’s passion for inspiring and original spaces. With 161 rooms distributed over seven floors, an outdoor pool, fitness centre and co-working area amongst other amenities, the hotel’s new design is a nod to Catalan modernism with communal areas inspired to Casa Lana and featuring sustainable and functional spaces.

ibis London Blackfriars (UK) – Right on the doorsteps of some of London’s most famous sights and attractions, this hotel boasts 297 fully renovated guest rooms, equipped with state-of-the-art technology and thoughtful amenities that blend functionality with comfort. The redesigned rooms are spacious and modern and include versatile and sustainable furniture, in line with the Green Key environmental
standards.

ibis Bayeux Port-en-Bessin (France) – Ideally located near the D-Day landing beaches, close to Bayeux and renowned medieval streets, cathedral and tapestry, the hotel has been recently refurnished and showcases a new design that celebrates the charm of the fishing village of Port-en-Bessin. The brand-new communal areas also feature a spacious breakfast space and a stylish bar. The hotel offers secure bike storage and a bike repair station, making it an ideal stop for cyclists.

Mercure Angoulême - Hôtel de France (France) – Located in an historical building, this hotel celebrates its strong local roots with themed guest rooms, modern design elements and warm decor for a home away from home feel. The hotel also offers the ‘Bistro Bardy’, a cozy lounge perfect to dine and wine in relaxed settings. The hotel completed its renovation early this year.

Pullman Riga Old Town (Latvia) – Set in a magnificent 1789 building, this hotel is undergoing a full renovation. Expected to be completed by the summer, the refurbishment will enhance the hotel’s communal areas, including the lobby, restaurant and bar, as well as its wellness and fitness facilities, ensuring an exceptional lifestyle experience for all guests. The hotel's six meeting rooms and 154 guest rooms and suites will also be upgraded, making it an ideal choice for both business and leisure travellers.
