HSMAI Europe has published a new whitepaper exploring how hospitality technology is moving from static, fragmented systems toward autonomous, AI-ready ecosystems.
Titled The Agentic Shift: From Static Systems to Autonomous Hospitality Ecosystems, the whitepaper examines how autonomous AI agents may change the way guests search, compare, book and communicate with hotels — and what this means for commercial leaders, hotel companies and technology providers.
For decades, the hospitality technology stack has been built around separate tools and touchpoints: websites, booking engines, customer databases, guest messaging, review platforms, central reservation systems and property management systems. While each system plays an important role, the result has often been a fragmented guest journey.
HSMAI Europe’s whitepaper, created by the AI Advisory Board, argues that this is now changing. As AI agents become more capable of acting on behalf of consumers and businesses, hotels will need systems that can communicate with each other more effectively, access reliable data and support a more continuous guest conversation across channels.
The report outlines a future in which autonomous agents, customer data platforms, guest experience insights, central reservation systems and property management systems work together as part of a connected ecosystem. It also explores what it may mean for hotels to become “AI-bookable” as external agents such as ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini become part of the travel discovery and booking journey.
The whitepaper covers key areas including AI-enabled guest communication, customer data, review-driven experience insights, direct booking potential, operational efficiency, privacy considerations and phased implementation.
The Agentic Shift is now available for download from HSMAI Europe.
