Meliá Hotels International advances its compliance, ethics and corporate governance framework with new AENOR certifications
The company renews its UNE 19601 certification and obtains ISO 37001 and Corporate Governance certifications, strengthening its global compliance and governance model
Meliá Hotels International earned ISO 37001 Anti-Bribery and Corporate Governance certifications from AENOR, achieving the top G++ governance rating, alongside renewing its UNE 19601 Criminal Compliance certification.
Meliá Hotels International continues to strengthen its compliance and governance framework following the renewal of its UNE 19601 Criminal Compliance certification and the achievement of the ISO 37001 Anti-Bribery Management Systems and Corporate Governance certifications, following independent certification by AENOR.
These certifications reflect the company’s commitment to regulatory compliance, integrity, transparency and responsible management, all of which are key to building trust among its stakeholders and supporting sustainable long-term growth.
The renewal of the UNE 19601 certification reaffirms the robustness of Meliá’s criminal risk prevention system, which is based on a comprehensive approach combining policies, standards, controls and a corporate culture focused on compliance.
The internationally recognised ISO 37001 certification acknowledges the implementation of an anti-bribery management system aligned with international best practices, enabling the company to prevent, detect and address potential bribery risks.
Meanwhile, Meliá has achieved the highest possible rating, G++, in the Corporate Governance certification. According to Ángel Luis Sánchez, Director of AENOR’s Mediterranean Region, “this certification endorses, before the market and Meliá’s stakeholders, the maturity and effectiveness of the company’s governance mechanisms and confirms that it operates in line with the highest standards of corporate governance best practices.”
These certifications represent an important recognition of Meliá’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its ethical culture and its compliance and governance model. Our commitment to integrity, transparency and good governance is essential to building trust and ensuring sustainable growth.
Gabriel Escarrer, Chairman and CEO of Meliá
With these achievements, Meliá reinforces its position as a benchmark in the tourism industry and continues to advance in the adoption of best practices in compliance, corporate governance and anti-corruption, while fostering a stronger culture of integrity and transparency throughout the organisation.
