The discerning readers of Condé Nast Traveler have spoken. This week the prestigious travel magazine released the results of its annual survey recognizing the best cities, islands, cruise lines, airlines, hotels and resorts in the world.

Congratulations to all of the honorees of the 2013 Readers' Choice Awards! A special congratulations to the three MP&A Digital & Advertising clients who were recognized among the best hotels and resorts in the Caribbean (some were also recognized among the "World's Best"):

Rosalie Bay Resort, Dominica: #2 Caribbean resort, Among the Top 100 in the World In its debut on the list, and the only property to represent the Nature Island, Rosalie Bay earned high marks. This nearly three-year-old, 28-room eco-boutique resort, founded by an American ex-pat, sits on 22 lush acres at the foothills of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a pioneer in its environmental efforts with the largest wind turbine in the region and founding Dominica's sea turtle conservation program.

Nisbet Plantation Beach Club, Nevis: #3 resort in the Caribbean In its 8th appearance on the list, 5th consecutive time within the top three, Nisbet Plantation continues to charm guests with an idyllic setting, gourmet dining and personal service from long-term Nevisian staff. Intimate, with just 36 cottage-style accommodations, and relaxing, Nisbet Plantation is the Caribbean's only historic plantation inn located on the beach.

Jamaica Inn, Ocho Rios, Jamaica: #3 hotel in the Caribbean 2013 marks its second straight appearance in the Readers' Choice Awards. Family owned since 1950 and boasting a roster of famed guests including Marilyn Monroe, Ian Fleming and Kathryn Hepburn, Jamaica Inn offers timeless elegance and relaxed luxury on the best beach in Jamaica. Each of the 52 suites and cottages offers views of the tranquil Caribbean Sea.

Travelers, in growing numbers, are making their voice heard. A record-breaking 79,268 Condé Nast Traveler readers participated in this year's survey – almost double from 2012 – casting 1.3 million votes for 16,000 properties around the world.

While Condé Nast Traveler had nearly 80,000 readers participate in its survey let's not forget about the most influential travel review site of all – TripAdvisor, which boasts more than 125 million reviews.

Rosalie Bay, Nisbet Plantation and Jamaica Inn all receive TripAdvisor's Top 5.0 rating based on actual guest comments. As such, one can surmise that great customer satisfaction leads to great TripAdvisor reviews which just might be a precursor to being ranked as one of the Top Caribbean Hotels and Resorts by Condé Nast Traveler and other travel publications.

My advice to hoteliers? Make the most out of every interaction with every guest – in person, online, on the phone, etc. Each interaction is an opportunity to make an impression – make it a memorable one. One that will leave the guest raving about your property to everyone they know – and on the review sites and surveys. And most importantly, one that will make the guest want to return. After all, a loyal, repeat guest is the most valuable of all.
