The International Labor Organization is a specialized, independent agency of the United Nations, based in Geneva, Switzerland, with 175 member countries represented by workers, employers and governments. It is the only international agency in which non-governmental sectors of society participate fully with government. What is the ILO's mandate? The ILO's main goal is to promote decent work for all men and women. The organization seeks to achieve this through four key objectives: Promotion of fundamental principles and rights at work - More opportunities for women and men to secure decent employment and income - Enhanced coverage and effectiveness of social safety nets - Strengthened dialogue between government, business and labor.
