RCI stands for Resorts Condominiums International. In 1974 our founders Jon and Cristel DeHaan came up with the concept of a timeshare holiday. They realized that swapping vacation homes gives vacation home owners more choice and adds value to the vacation experience. They developed a system that allowed vacation property owners to exchange a vacation in their own vacation home for stays of the same length in other vacation rentals that had joined RCI's exchange program. This gave vacation home owners greater flexibility and choice, and revolutionized vacationing for millions of people.
