The Marlborough
The Marlborough Boutique Hotel & Vineyard is a privately owned luxury country estate set across 16 acres of established gardens and working vineyards in the heart of New Zealand’s Marlborough wine region. At the heart of the estate is The House, offering just 10 rooms and the most intimate expression of The Marlborough experience. Originally built as a convent in 1901 and beautifully restored, its history forms part of its character, but a stay is defined more by the feeling of being welcomed into a grand country home — personal, relaxed and generously hosted. The House guests enjoy exclusive spaces including the Chapel Bar, where hosted cocktails and canapés are served each evening, its courtyard, heated outdoor swimming pool, private gardens and games area. Beginning January 2027, 20 Junior Suites set amongst the estate’s gardens and vineyards will offer a contemporary alternative, allowing a wider range of guests to experience The Marlborough while retaining the privacy and personal service central to the property. Executive Chef Wieland Matzig oversees Harvest Restaurant and The Source, with dining centred around seasonal local produce and ingredients grown on the estate. Guests can also enjoy the wellness facilities, four grass tennis courts, gardens and walking trails, onsite wine experiences and the Secret Garden Shack private dining experience. For younger guests, a children’s program offers hands-on experiences around the estate, including meeting the farm animals, vegetable gardening, eel feeding and lawn games. Just 10 minutes from Blenheim Airport, The Marlborough is ideally placed for exploring the region’s wineries, Marlborough Sounds, Queen Charlotte Track and wider attractions, with direct flights from Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch and access via the Coastal Pacific train between Christchurch and Picton. The Marlborough offers a natural beginning, end or extended stop on a New Zealand itinerary — and a reason to spend more time discovering Marlborough at the top of the South Island.
