Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much!
Most of us will know from any private or professional crisis we will have doubtless been through, that the task of solving a problem is always a lot easier when this is done in company rather than alone. (The analogy of Don Quixote fighting against the windmills comes to mind)
Consequently, the need to start collaborating across business sectors and with other companies within one's own sectors, when it comes to addressing mentioned polycrises seems to be a logical conclusion. Not only will it help harness investments and accelerate much needed technologies, to mitigate and adapt to climate change, but it will also allow us to benefit from each other's learnings, skills and experiences.
One of our core values at Considerate Group has always been "collaborate" and we have therefore successfully developed both our technology platform Con-Serve with this approach as well as delivered various of our consultancy projects in collaboration with other companies.
As a consequence, we also entered into a partnership with the Sustainable Hospitality Alliance last summer, as both our organisations understand each other"s strengths, which lie in complementing each other's work rather than competing with each other for business.
And it is withing that vein we have now jointly launched the Hospitality & Tourism Task Force under the Sustainable Markets Initiative, originally founded by King Charles III, as a platform to engage business leaders to collectively pursue solutions for Climate Change.
I strongly believe that these kind of initiatives and co-operations are the only way forward for companies and entire industry sectors to succeed in adapting to the ever-growing challenges of the afore mentioned polycrisis. These collaborations can start with joint efforts around supporting sustainable suppliers to make our supply chains more local and stronger, to setting sensible standards on metrics for measuring our impacts, to identifying investment gaps, pushing for needed policies as well as being flexible when it comes to green clauses in lease agreements.
The opportunities in joining forces and working on challenges collectively are huge, the downfalls and risks of not do so are even bigger.
To quote the fabulous Helen Keller at this point Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.
