With over thirty members of full-time academic staff, technicians, eight full-time researchers, six project staff and two Visiting Professors not to mention approximately 900 students, the School is the largest academic collective of tourism expertise in Wales and one of the largest in the United Kingdom. The Department is a Centre of Excellence for its academic, research and consultancy activities. The School is part of an extensive network of Universities across Europe and in North America which supports staff and student exchange opportunities. European exchanges have received financial support through the SOCRATES programme. As a result of these exchanges there are always a number of European and American students studying in the School which gives a truly international flavour and makes the School a really fun place to be. We offer the most comprehensive and successful industry focused Tourism, Hospitality and Events Management courses in Wales which will enable students to choose from a range of global employment opportunities.

All students on tourism, hospitality and events programmes have the opportunity to complete a period of work experience within their chosen sector as part of their studies. Successful placements often open career doors for students and can lead into future employment opportunities.

Many placements in tourism, hospitality and events organisations are available within the UK. However work experience opportunities also currently exist in organisations in America, Canada, Europe and Asia.
