The School of Hospitality Management of Widener University educates leaders for the global hospitality industry. The School offers Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Hospitality Management. The Bachelor of Science program is designed to produce well rounded individuals and excellent managers by requiring students to build a strong academic foundation in business administration as well as the arts and sciences. Along with the required courses in hospitality management, students may use their electives to create concentrations in any one of the following ten areas of study: Hotel and Resort management, Timeshare Management, Casino Hotel Operations, Managed Services, Tourism, Meeting Planning, Special Events, Private Clubs, Restaurant Management and Healthcare Foodservice Management. Hospitality management education at Widener reaches far beyond the classroom. Widener understands that practical experience is a valuable part of developing professional knowledge, business sense, and human relations skills. Each student is, therefore, required to complete 1400 hours of paid industry experience prior to graduation. This experience consists of two 400 hour summer internships and a 600 hour cooperative education semester. During the cooperative education semester, students combine paid work experience of 37 to 40 hours per week with a one day on-campus leadership development seminar. This combination of excellent academic preparation along with a strong work experience component prepares Widener graduates for rewarding management careers as well as the ability to succeed in graduate school. The faculty and I hope that you will contact us for more information or, better yet, visit Widener to meet the students and faculty and see the facilities and campus.
