RIU dedicates more than 3 million euros to social investment in 2024

RIU Hotels & Resorts dedicated a total of €3,171,135 to social investment in 2024 as part of the first roll out of its Proudly Committed strategy. The company’s 104 actions with 88 strategic partners directly impacted 55,624 people and indirectly impacted 82,644 people. Childhood represented 71% of the investment, followed by Biodiversity (22%) and Local community (7%).

Ten Percent of the Products Consumed at RIU’s Hotels in The Balearic Islands are Locally Produced

In just two years, RIU Hotels & Resorts has doubled the amount of local products used at its hotels in the Balearic Islands. This figure stood at 5.7% in 2023, before increasing to 7% in 2024 and reaching 10% in 2025. This amount is calculated as a percentage of the hotels’ total spending and represents a significant milestone for the chain, which intends to continue increasing the proportion of local products used in the coming years as part of its Proudly Committed sustainability strategy, supporting the community and reducing the company’s scope 2 carbon emissions.

Countdown to the opening of Meliá Palma Bay and Palau de Congressos Palma

Meliá Hotels International has set the date for the opening of the new Palau de Congressos de Palma (Convention Centre) and its adjoining hotel, the Meliá Palma Bay. On Saturday, 1 April, the company will open the doors on what its Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Gabriel Escarrer, expects to be the best Convention Centre in the Mediterranean, with the potential to earn Palma a place among the top 50 destinations for international congresses and conventions.
