Meliá Hotels International today announced the signing of Meliá Pekanbaru, marking the entry of the Spanish hotel group to the Indonesian island of Sumatra. The new agreement underscores Meliá's rapid growth and momentum in Indonesia, where the group now has 16 hotels in operation and in the pipeline.
Swiss-Belhotel International has opened its first convention and exhibition centre, ska Co Ex, in Pekanbaru Riau, Indonesia, an international-standard venue for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions located in the heart of the city. The global hospitality management chain will manage the facility, featuring four ballrooms, which can accommodate up to 3,000 guests and five function rooms, which can cater to up to 200 guests.
Swiss-Belhotel International Senior Vice President Operations and Development for Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam, Mr. Emmanuel Guillard stated that, "Swiss-Belinn SKA Pekanbaru is the first hotel in Pekanbaru and the 5th hotel in Sumatera managed by Swiss-Belhotel International.
