Hyatt Hotels Corporation today announced the opening of Hyatt Place Gothenburg Central, further expanding Hyatt's brand footprint in Scandinavia. Located in the heart of Gothenburg, atop the city's Central Station, the 300-room hotel offers a dynamic hub for modern travellers seeking comfort, connectivity, and convenience.
Scandic has signed a long-term lease agreement for two new Scandic Go hotels in central Gothenburg and Umeå. The hotels are expected to open in 2026 with a total of 276 rooms, and the project involves converting existing office buildings. This will bring the number of Scandic Go hotels in the company's pipeline to five with a total of 876 rooms in Sweden and Finland.
On June 12, an important milestone will be reached in the Nordic region's largest urban development project, Älvstaden, when Scandic Göteborg Central opens. With 451 rooms, 1,225 beds, event space for up to 1,000 people and largest rooftop terrace offering a panoramic view of the river, the hotel will be among the biggest in Gothenburg.
In 2017, Scandic and Vasakronan signed an agreement to operate a hotel at the Platinan property in central Gothenburg. Scandic Göteborg Central will open during the second quarter of 2022 just a couple hundred meters from Gothenburg's central station in the middle of the rapidly-growing Älvstaden area, the largest urban development project in the Nordic region. With its 451 rooms, the hotel will play the largest role in one of Gothenburg's most spectacular real estate projects.
