DoubleTree by Hilton is planning to open three hotels in Romania within the coming year in Oradea, Bucharest and Ploiesti. The Ploiesti deal also represents the seventh Hilton Worldwide hotel across its portfolio of brands, either operating or under development in the country, under the Hilton, DoubleTree by Hilton and Hampton by Hilton brands.
The Rezidor Hotel Group, one of the fastest growing hotel companies worldwide, has increased their portfolio in the Romanian capital Bucharest to 718 rooms: Besides the Radisson Blu Hotel, Bucharest (424 rooms) which opened in 2008 Rezidor has now signed an agreement to also manage 294 apartments adjacent to the hotel. Approximately 62 of the apartments will be re-branded in December 2010, with the remainder coming in early 2011. Both the hotel and the apartment block are under common ownership.
Hilton Worldwide has today announced the signing of a franchise license agreement with VIS 7 Import Export SRL, to open a Doubletree by Hilton hotel in Bucharest, Romania. The conversion and upgrade of the Bucharest City Unirii Square Hotel to a Doubletree by Hilton hotel is scheduled to be completed in the second quarter of 2011. The Doubletree by Hilton, Bucharest-Unirii Square will be Hilton Worldwide’s fifth hotel in Romania and the country’s second Doubletree by Hilton hotel development, with the Doubletree by Hilton, Oradea due to open in early 2011.
