HITEC Rewind: Bernard Tan on the Reality of Tech Stacks in Hospitality, “Integration Remains Our Greatest Pain Point”

In our recent interview at HITEC 2025, Bernard Tan, SVP of Commercial Strategy and Technology at Castle Resorts & Hotels, pulled back the curtain on the operational tech challenges facing multi-property hospitality groups. From managing four to five different PMS systems to wrestling with fragmented email marketing platforms and duplicate data workflows, Tan described a complex digital environment that resists easy fixes. While Castle Resorts uses third-party tech solutions exclusively, Tan emphasized that vendor integration, not innovation, is the core barrier to digital transformation. "We"re forced to compromise," he said, "not because we want to, but because systems don"t talk to each other."
